I asked Abacus to install a new condensing boiler, replace some radiators and fit new bathroom suite! I am writing this letter to thank Peter at Abacus, who after my old system packed up, gave us the advice on the central heating system and new boiler choices which proved to be invaluable. Throughout the installation he was punctual, considerate and efficient. I am more than delighted with their work at the end of each day they left things clean and tidy. Reference for Peter Strachan and Abacus: We initially called Peter in to service our boiler in Autumn 2014. He was friendly and mentioned that his company did other aspects of building work such as kitchens. As we were looking to have work done on our kitchen we showed him what we were looking at doing.
The next week he came out with Tony (who seems to do most of the joinery and masonry work), to price up removal and support of a chimney breast with an RSJ, removal of a dwarf wall, and installation of kitchen units and worktops, moving of a sink and radiators etc. Peter’s quote was prompt and very reasonable and we got a good price from Howdens.
The start date was kept to and coincided with when we were away. Regular contact was kept throughout the job, and although it ran over by a week, this was due to delays with building control rather than slow work. There was a small addition to the quote as when the old kitchen was removed we discovered a hole in a wall which needed filling, but otherwise the initial quote was accurate. In terms of payment, Peter asked for an initial deposit and then staged payments as the work progressed, with the final payment only being made when the work was fully completed.
The quality of the work was excellent and we have had no problems since then. The plasterer and electrician used were both excellent. Peter has done one or two small plumbing jobs for us since and his work has always been fairly priced and to a good standard.
